“Unlimited” is a word that needs reading carefully in Dutch telecom advertising. The domestic data volume is uncapped, but plans differ in speed tier, in EU roaming allowance and in what is included with calling. This guide sets out what the operators’ own pages list on 6 October 2026. For the wider sim-only landscape, see our best Dutch sim-only plans guide; if you are still on prepaid, start with the prepaid SIM comparison.

Quick answer: On 6 October 2026 unlimited sim-only plans start at €27.50 a month at Vodafone and EUR 28 at KPN, on two-year terms. The differences between plans are mainly speed tier, calling and EU roaming allowance. Independer shows the market side by side, and Budget Thuis Mobiel offers unlimited data and calling on the KPN 5G network.

What “unlimited” can still limit

Speed. Plans sell the same uncapped volume at different maximum speeds. Odido Unlimited Start is up to 20 Mbit/s and its higher tiers go up to 400, 700 and 1,000 Mbit/s. KPN Unlimited50 is 50 Mbit/s and its higher tiers are 400, 700 and 1,000 Mbit/s. Vodafone says every Unlimited plan gets the maximum speed its network offers at your location.

EU roaming volume. Roam Like At Home applies in the 27 EU countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Ukraine and Moldova, but it does not apply in the UK, and operators set an allowance for data used abroad (European Commission). Check the allowance for your plan.

Fair use. Read the provider’s terms on tethering and on use that is not consistent with a personal mobile subscription.

Odido sells five unlimited plans on a two-year, one-year or one-month term. Its Sim Only page lists Unlimited Start (up to 20 Mbit/s, 50 GB of internet in the EU), Unlimited Basis (up to 400 Mbit/s, 60 GB in the EU), Unlimited Plus (up to 700 Mbit/s, 75 GB in the EU, Switzerland, the US and Turkey), Unlimited Snelst (up to 1 Gbit/s, 100 GB in the same countries) and Unlimited Premium (up to 1 Gbit/s, 100 GB, with up to 3 extras). On 6 October it advertised “Unlimited vanaf EUR 20 per maand” on a two-year term in combination with its Klantvoordeel, and a further Unlimited subscription at EUR 20.00 a month (odido.nl, read in the Dutch browser on 6 October 2026). Check the price of each tier on Odido’s own page, because it depends on the discount that applies at your address.

Vodafone’s Unlimited Start includes 150 calling minutes and unlimited SMS; Unlimited Plus and Max include unlimited calls and SMS. With two or more Unlimited subscriptions at one address Vodafone gives EUR 2.50 a month off. One-year terms cost EUR 1 a month more than two-year terms.

Budget Thuis Mobiel offers unlimited data and calling on KPN’s 5G network and gives a combination discount of up to EUR 17.50 a month if you combine Internet with Mobile or Energy (budgetthuis.nl, read on 6 October 2026). Prices depend on the plan you configure, so check them on the provider’s page.

Do you need unlimited?

Check how much data you use: iOS and Android both show it. Compare that with the bundle prices. On 6 October 2026 Vodafone lists 15 GB at EUR 20.00 (with a EUR 2.50 discount included) and 30 GB at EUR 24.50, against EUR 27.50 for Unlimited Start (two-year terms), and Odido lists 20 GB at EUR 18.50 (two-year term). The gap between a mid-sized bundle and unlimited can therefore be small, so compare the exact prices for the plans you are considering.

Unlimited tends to make sense if you tether a laptop, have no fixed home internet yet, or do not want to track your data. A smaller bundle may be enough if you have Wi-Fi at home and at work.

Home internet

If you are waiting for a fixed internet installation, an unlimited mobile plan can bridge the gap. Check the provider’s terms on tethering and fair use first, and compare the speed tier with a real broadband contract. Budget Thuis internet is one option, and our Dutch broadband provider comparison covers more.

Before you order

Postpaid subscriptions are normally paid by direct debit. Ask the provider which documents and bank details it needs when you order. See our BSN application guide and the bank account guide. If you do not have them yet, a prepaid plan can bridge the gap; start with the prepaid comparison.

Handset-included plans are different from sim-only: financing a phone through a provider is a credit agreement, and purchases above EUR 250 on instalments are registered with BKR (bkr.nl). Sim-only plans avoid this.

Contract length

Odido offers 2-year, 1-year and 1-month terms and Vodafone offers 2-year and 1-year terms (EUR 1 a month more for one year). A shorter term costs more per month but is easier to leave. If your stay has an end date, check the provider’s cancellation terms before you choose a two-year term.

How to compare

  1. Check your real usage over the last three months.
  2. Decide whether you tether; if you do, look at the speed tier, not only the price.
  3. Look up the EU roaming allowance if you travel.
  4. Read the price after any promotion ends.
  5. Compare the market in one place, such as Independer’s telecom comparison.
  6. Ask for number portability during sign-up if you want to keep your number.

The short version

Unlimited data in the Netherlands is mostly a speed and roaming decision rather than a volume decision. Work out what you use, check whether you tether, look at the roaming allowance if you travel, and compare the price after promotions end.

Prices, speed tiers and roaming allowances reflect the operators’ own pages read in the Dutch browser on 6 October 2026 (Vodafone, KPN, Odido, Budget Thuis). Dutch telecom pricing changes frequently. Check current pricing and terms on the provider’s own site before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an unlimited data plan cost in the Netherlands in 2026?

On 6 October 2026 the operators' own Sim Only pages list unlimited plans from EUR 27.50 a month at Vodafone (Unlimited Start, two-year term, regular price) and EUR 28 at KPN (Unlimited50). Vodafone Unlimited Max is EUR 42.50 and KPN SuperUnlimited+ is EUR 40. Odido advertises unlimited from EUR 20 a month on a two-year term in combination with its Klantvoordeel discount. Promotions change often, so check the price after any introductory period before you sign.

Is unlimited data in the Netherlands really unlimited?

The volume in the Netherlands is uncapped, but the speed can differ per plan. Odido Unlimited Start is up to 20 Mbit/s and KPN Unlimited50 is 50 Mbit/s, while faster tiers go up to 1 Gbit/s. Vodafone states that all its Unlimited plans give the maximum speed its network offers at your location.

Does unlimited data work when I travel in the EU?

Roam Like At Home applies in the EU, but your plan has an allowance for data abroad. In October 2026 the listed EU allowances are 50 GB on Vodafone Unlimited Start and Odido Unlimited Start, 75 GB on Vodafone Unlimited Plus, and 100 GB on Vodafone Unlimited Max. Check your own plan's figure and the charge after you pass it.

Do I need unlimited data, or is 30 GB enough?

That depends on how much you use. Vodafone's 30 GB plan is EUR 24.50 a month and its Unlimited Start is EUR 27.50 (two-year terms, 6 October 2026), so the price gap between a 30 GB bundle and unlimited can be small. Check your usage in your phone settings for the last three months before you choose.

Can I use an unlimited plan as home internet?

Check the provider's terms on tethering and fair use before you rely on it, and compare the speed tier with a fixed broadband contract.

What happens to my plan if I leave the Netherlands?

Check the provider's cancellation terms for your contract length. Odido and Vodafone both offer shorter terms, such as 1 year or 1 month at Odido, if your stay has an end date.
