Three kinds of links, and how to tell them apart
- A plain link — a reference to a provider, source or pricing page with no arrangement behind it. No marking, no payment.
- A commission link — a link WT Digital may earn from if you sign up or buy, through an affiliate network or a direct partner programme. Carries
rel="sponsored", and the page shows a disclosure. - A paid listing (Listing Plus) — a button or provider block the provider pays a fixed annual fee for, with no per-click settlement. Visibly labelled as a paid listing, carries
rel="sponsored", and the page shows a disclosure. A paid listing changes nothing about position, verdict or wording, and it does not add mentions by itself; whether a service goes into a comparison is decided on relevance for the reader. The terms are on the partnerships page.
Sponsored articles
Sponsored and advertorial content is labelled as paid content. Paid links use the sponsored attribute. Sponsored publication is separate from the methodology used for editorial comparisons.
